What Reconstitution Means
Many peptides are supplied as lyophilized powders. Reconstitution refers to adding a measured volume of diluent to create a solution with a known concentration. Accuracy depends on clean technique and correct math.
What You Need
- Lyophilized peptide vial (labeled mass in mg)
- Bacteriostatic water
- Sterile syringe or pipette for measurement
- Alcohol wipes
Step-by-Step Reconstitution
- Clean vial stoppers with alcohol and allow to dry.
- Measure the desired volume of bacteriostatic water.
- Slowly introduce liquid down the vial wall.
- Gently swirl until fully dissolved. Do not shake.
- Label vial with date and calculated concentration.
Common errors
- Confusing mg and mcg
- Incorrect diluent volume
- Shaking the vial
- Failing to document concentration
